After Mario da Mercato Saraceno, Bernadino da Colpetrazzo was officially appointed to compose a 'history' of the origins of the Capuchin fraternity. Passing through a process of three redactions, he completed his work finally in 1594, in three volumes: 1) A simple and devout history; 2) Selected biographies of holy friars; 3) the way of life of the Friars, with a list of Ministers General and Cardinal Protectors.  Critical editions of these volumes were published MHOMC II - IV.  I have also translated these into English. The 1500+ pages are in the process of revision.

I include this 'biographical note' here, though its contents tend more towards hagiography. Nevertheless, the text also offers some worthwhile historical hints about this Capuchin 'Chronicler.'
