This file has transcripts (in the original Italian spelling) of the Capuchin Constitutions of 1551 and 1575. The two texts are presented in two columns for easier comparison. In the introduction I describe the different means used to indicate wording unique to each and common to both. In the end notes I have tried to compare both texts with the Capuchin Constitutions of 1608. The introduction describes that method also.
Such a comparison demonstrates continuity and development within the Capuchin Constitutions of the period. The Constitutions can help to show how Capuchin life adapted and developed.
Why leave the texts in Italian, and why antiquated Italian? To allow a more accurate exegesis.
